Again, it's because I'm not invested in the Louisiana Queen storyline, but because of that, the mystery didn't feel like a mystery at all, but more of a series of events that just happened.
As far as the plot goes, it's weak, mostly because of the missing information that Harris can only cram in here, and over all, it's just not interesting. Boo to Harris for that, so if you can get your hands on that short story (once I find out the name and anthology it's in, I'll post it in my LJ in this review), read that first. And to make matters worse, there's a pack of Weres that are intent on bringing Sookie down, quite possibly killing her, and she doesn't know why.My Rating Worth the Cash: but it's close to "give it away," especially if you're like me and have missed the short story that supplied so many of this novel's important plot points. For any fan of the show that hasn't followed the novels, it's doubtful any of them would have made this guess as the vampire's ultimate end.The premise: book 6 is supposed to be about Sookie going to New Orleans to claim her inheritance that someone doesn't want Sookie to have.
Bill ends up developing talent as a video game maker, ultimately becoming extremely wealthy off of very violent vampire games that are wildly popular. In the follow-up to the final novel After Dead, there are brief summaries of each character's fate. This ending is wildly different from the final book in Harris's series where Bill Compton continues on with his vampire life. In the show, Bill Compton voluntarily chooses to meet the true death at the hands of Sookie Stackhouse, who tearfully stakes him in his grave bringing Vampire Bill's undead existence to its end. After 7 seasons, HBO's True Blood came to a close with the series finale "Thank You." As the small screen's portrayal of the Charlaine Harris novels wrapped up, many fans were ultimately left disappointed by the fate of the popular characters.
